Tanner’s is a blessing to Oceanside and all of North County. The lines can sometimes get a little bit long and the parking lot a little unwieldy but it’s so worth it. The first time I went here, I literally came back a few days later because I had to get more of it.
Burger: MUST GET!
It’s so juicy with every bite and it’ll leave you continually speechless over and over again. Burgers are one of my guilty pleasures and Tanner’s just does it right. The single burger is good but I would recommend the dirty double (assuming you can eat that much) because of the meat/cheese ratio as well as the pickles and stuff. If youre getting a single, I guess you can add the pickles without getting the double.
Tallow fries: Get
Cooked in that delicious rendered fat, these are so crispy and a great pairing with the burger. I would say it’s not nearly mind blowing as the burger but still great.

May 3, 2026 at 10:28 pmAbsolutely blown away by Tanner’s Prime Burgers! They keep the menu simple, but the execution is flawless. The quality of the 100% USDA Prime Brandt Beef is next-level—the patties are perfectly smashed with incredible lacy, crispy edges, and they’re stacked with melted New School American cheese, caramelized onions, and that amazing cowboy beef bacon. The brioche bun is super soft but holds it all together perfectly without falling apart.
Whatever you do, do NOT skip the Tallow Fries. Frying them in pure beef fat gives them an unbelievable crunch and a rich flavor that you just can’t get anywhere else. Also, if they have the “Fatty Patty” vanilla tallow ice cream sandwich in stock when you go, definitely grab one to finish things off.
The vibe in South O is great, and the food easily lives up to the Michelin Guide hype. Hands down one of the best burgers in San Diego County. Completely worth the drive and every penny!

Both the beef burger and the fries were incredible. Even though it got busy fast and the staff was moving quickly to keep things clean and organized, the quality was top-notch. I will definitely be back for another!

The large diameter straw was no match for the viscosity. Ended up using a plastic knife to “stab” the shake. Anyway, the shake taste was 10/10. (Very chocolatey.) Then, I saw the Michelin sign posted on the wall. Now, it all made sense.
