What to Expect

At Jivamukti Yoga Collective, expect a practice that goes beyond mere physical exertion. Here’s what an average class looks like:

1. Opening and Setting Intentions: Each session usually starts with grounding practices that help you connect your mind and body. You might be invited to set a personal intention for your practice, creating a deeper focus for your time on the mat.

2. Creative Sequencing: Classes at Jivamukti are known for their thoughtful and challenging sequences. The instructors are skilled at guiding you through poses that build strength, flexibility, and awareness. Expect a mix of traditional postures blended with innovative modifications that accommodate different skill levels.

3. Philosophy and Music: True to its roots, Jivamukti incorporates philosophical teachings into every class. This could range from themes of compassion and mindfulness to discussions around societal issues. You may also encounter live music, as many classes include the rhythms and melodies that enhance the overall experience.

4. Cool Down and Reflection: As each class winds down, you’ll enjoy a period of savasana (final relaxation). This is your time to absorb all the insights gained during practice and to simply be. Some instructors may lead you in a guided meditation or share uplifting closing thoughts.

5. Community Connection: After class, it’s common to find practitioners chatting, laughing, and connecting over refreshments. The sense of community is palpable, and you’ll likely forge new friendships as you share your yoga journey with others.

I took Spiritual Warrior at Juban Mukti Center with Hachi, and I absolutely loved the experience.

Hachi has such a beautiful, grounding way of teaching. The class felt strong, intentional, and deeply embodied. I especially appreciated the hands-on assists—so supportive, present, and offered with real care and awareness.

I left feeling centered, energized, and deeply connected to my practice. Truly a powerful and nourishing class. Highly recommend. 🙏

This place has given me community, and so much more than yoga. I’ve tried almost every other place in Downtown with classpass. And I kept coming back here. Now for the last 5 months I’m off classpass, because I’ve found my studio! Highly recommend Hachi’s classes. Though all the teachers are very knowledgeable and have great classes. I’ve seen so much growth in myself in the past 8 months!

I visited Jivamukti for HaChi’s class on their opening / inaugural class and it was so energetically and physically refreshing. The most perfect/classic signature Jivamukti class with a bit of Dharma and chanting at the beginning, an incredibly challenging yet accessible class, and a nourishing china gel massage throughout the class with really helpful assists. I know this is just the beginning, but I was really blown away and I hope everyone experiences it at least once!

Everytime I come here I have what feels like a near death experience and then walk out ✨reborn✨(in the wow that was the perfect challenge way). Big fan of Christie’s community class (pay what you want). She’s knowledgable and funny, which makes the space feel less intimidating, a problem that I find a lot of yoga spaces run into which make yoga less enjoyable or stressful and competitive. The space itself is also bright, clean, and filled with green plants. I’ve been coming (somewhat) regularly for a couple months now and it has become a seriously grounding and peaceful weekly reset to my otherwise chaotic nyc life (you get it). Would higgghhhhllyyy recommend checking it out!

This is one of my favorite studios. The space is clean, naturally lit, smells great, always the perfect temperature. I bring my own mat but they have great yoga not slippery yoga mats, blocks, blankets, straps, galore.

The instructors are all amazing – the flows are always on point and challenging for any level. Their cues and adjustments take your physical practice to a spiritual level.

    Highly reccomend.
