Live here if you enjoy arguing for your right to live in dignity.

I’ve been here for years and have had no issues, always paid my dues on time and have never caused an issue. Management has been less on top of things as time has gone on, I’ve had to argue or persistently ask for basic maintenance on my unit be done with mixed results.

For example, my bathtub started developing a crack in it. I notified them early because I don’t want water damage to occur, and instead of replacing it, they sent a guy over and put flex tape on it. That doesn’t solve the crack, but I figured they were going to be back to replace it later. I had to follow up a couple months later to get the tub actually replaced because I showed them the crack was still developing underneath the tape.

Second example is my building’s plumbing, or at least the line to my unit. There’s some issues going on with it, bubbles form up from the line and cause contents within the bowl to splash out. It goes without saying this isn’t sanitary and is embarrassing to live with and explain to guests. They said they can’t fix it, but it’s an issue with an air gap in the system and would require them to spend money on hiring an actual plumber to check it out, so they brushed it off. They’ve yet to fix a leak under my kitchen sink I’ve complained about a few times now.

The main thing that has motivated me to write this review is the sudden and extreme issue with cockroaches. They moved some people next to me early last year and almost immediately I started having issues with them coming from their unit. Unless you have a maid or something, nothing’s going to be perfect, but I’m particular about my cleanliness and organization. I’ve lived here for years and most of my other neighbors have been here for at least a year, no issues. These new neighbors are obviously an issue if not THE issue as they constantly have garbage bags leaking down their second story porch, dropping dirty diapers into the landscaping below, etc. and the management have brushed me off over the months I’ve tried talking to them about the issue.

I have no problems with them personally but having to live with this issue for almost a full year nonstop has been very difficult. I can’t have guests over, I can’t cook a meal in peace, I’ve had to empty out half my cupboards so they don’t have places to hide in. Getting spray treatments was doing nothing for the issue because they are in the walls infesting the building at this point. I tried explaining this to management because I was getting tired of having to empty out my entire kitchen every month for treatments that are not effective.

The management here will not advocate for you, they won’t try to be proactive about protecting your quality of life and investing in their property, and if you get bad neighbors like I have, you’ll be stuck with them because they are non-confrontational. I tried speaking with them months ago and they said nobody else complains about it, so it’s obviously my problem right? I spoke with a neighbor and apparently he’s been complaining on their online portal and has been ignored, so apparently I’m not the only one complaining.

I would avoid moving here for the time being. I can’t say for sure if it’s because they want me to move out so they can “renovate” the unit and upcharge it for another couple hundred dollars a month, but I have been nothing but respectful and pleasant with them and don’t deserve to be treated this way.

Likely, this review will be buried underneath a dozen more single-sentence solicited reviews that may or may not be bots, or even now vendors reviewing the place–which is funny to me. It’s like asking a plumber that has never eaten at the restaurant he’s doing a job at to review the food. The reviews here are for how the LIVING CONDITIONS are.

I’ve lived at Hyde Park for the past 6 years and management is great. Stephanie helps out as much as she can and is always so understanding. Maintenance is quick when I ask for a maintenance request and he always does an amazing job. Hands down the best management I have come across with renting. Stephanie always lets us know in advance when there’s going to be maintenance done around the complex or if there is going to be any work done or inspections. Would highly recommend if you are apartment hunting.
