The floor plans here are decent and fairly spacious, but I want to be honest for anyone considering moving here expecting a “luxury” living experience, t’s not luxury.

The biggest issue is the construction and insulation between units. The walls and ceilings are extremely thin, and you can hear almost everything happening in neighboring apartments. Conversations, music, yelling and movement carry very easily. The biggest issue is the construction and insulation between units. If you value peace and quiet in your own home, this may not be the best fit.

Another issue is the condition of the property overall. Management does seem to make an effort to keep the grounds clean, but unfortunately many tenants and their children do not respect the property. Trash and even grocery bags of garbage are often left around the property instead of being disposed of properly. There is also graffiti on parts of the buildings, and it’s common to see kids hanging around the gym during school hours.

There have also been several incidents where fires were started on the property, which is concerning.

The layout of the apartments themselves is nice, but the noise issues and lack of consideration from some residents significantly affect the overall living experience. I wish I had known more about these things before signing a lease.

Potential renters should take these factors into consideration when deciding if this community is the right environment for them.

Worst place I’ve ever stayed at, I’ve been here for 5 years and every 6 months (give or take) there is new management in the leasing office going off of new rules. The maintenance here is terrible, the walls are so thin you can hear every noise your upstairs door neighbor is making. It’s definitely not worth nearly 1700 dollars a month. I’ll be so excited when my time here is up. Also the leasing office has some extremely rude and terrible attitudes.

UPDATE 6/7/24 – I am leaving the rest of my original review up for the reality of what my experience was, though would like to advise that changes are in play at the community and to thank LaDonna, for listening to the community and taking time to resolve issues and form action plans. This is very welcome news that I hope continues to flourish.

I am updating the review to 5 stars, solely because of an in-person meeting with the new community manager, LaDonna Rankin.
We met for approx. 30 minutes, spoke constructively and had an open conversation about the realities of the complex. She resolved the dissatisfaction I had with the product that was the development, releasing me from the lease.
LaDonna indeed inherited many problems and I cannot place blame on her. She has been brought in by Greystar as a fixer since late March 2024 and has been saddled with the below issues listed in my review across the community. I do believe she is the professional that should have been running this community since the beginning and will return it to the proper community it once was as she has done with communities that now sit high in review marks across the Charlotte area.

    Original Review:
Place went into free-fall when the last Leasing Professional, Alonya, and seemingly the rest of the staff, were pulled by Greystar in the lead-up to 2024.

See the photos. Here’s what your “Premier Apartment” and grounds will look like. Don’t believe the photos they post. Cheapest materials used to furnish the apartments from counter tops to cupboards and even outlet covers.
Dealt with a roach infestation that escalated a month into the lease and persists to this day over a year later. Dead roaches and dust were all over from the beginning of move in.
Pest Control Tickets used to be addressed, but are now closed every time one is entered. Even when I requested they call ahead for entry or simply knock, no one will show.
Add to this continued issues with other tenants and their associates vandalizing private and common ground property and you’re left with a filthy, unmaintained and unsafe environment. Ask the leasing team about the multiple gun shot issues and break-ins of vehicles and empty apartments…

The rates they post online do not reflect the total cost. Add about $250 to what they list for services. You can get a better place at any of the nearby apartments for the same cost with a much better quality of life.

Back when the team was on-point, it was a decent place to live. Maintained well, problem tenants were dealt with and removed, communication from the management team was acceptable.
I’d give it no stars if it weren’t for the maintenance team who is overworked and inundated with calls.

Don’t ever live here. I lived here for only a little over a year and it was unsafe. Management did nothing to adress my concerns of loose dogs, almost catching my apartment on fire by not correctly fixing the ac unit, lightning hitting the building and knocking out internet for weeks, among 10 other serious concerns that wouldn’t all fit here.
However, when I moved out, they made sure to take and I quote “they only take pictures when something is wrong with move out” to ensure I had to pay extra money. Communication was terrible no one ever handled my concerns. I honestly wish a better housing unit or an advocacy program for safe renting had reached out to me.
Don’t live here. It’s unsafe, over priced, and run down. Worst living conditions I’ve been in.

I absolutely adored working with Sheila Floyd, the leasing professional at Avant at Steele Creek. From my very first phone conversation to the in-person tour of a beautiful unit, she made the entire experience smooth and welcoming. Her personality is wonderful—friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. Sheila went above and beyond, and I couldn’t have asked for a better leasing experience!
