April 10, 2026 at 1:01 pmThis ashram is a very special and messy microcosm of the outer world. Come here expecting to escape the mess/clinging to a certain experience, and you’ll be disappointed. Come open and ready to face exactly what you need to, including yourself, and you’ll be freed on many levels! ✨🕉️
advice to ashram management: please rework the volunteer system to be a more balanced energy exchange, especially so that volunteers have more time to enjoy programming and experience less burnout. There is so much existing beauty and further potential to be fulfilled, I hope to get to witness that in future visits 🙂

**Amanda Ashram is a hidden gem in New York.** When I lived in New York City, this sanctuary was my go-to place for peace, quiet, and healing. It’s where I could organize my thoughts and heal from my traumas. The people here are incredibly kind, and you’ll encounter a diverse community from all walks of life, many of whom are on similar journeys. The food, prepared by volunteers, is both delicious and nourishing. This is a place that embodies an ideal world of kindness, friendship, and love. The daily yoga classes, held every morning and evening by different talented instructors, are not to be missed. Plus, the meditation sessions, led by teachers who have worked closely with the guru who founded this haven in the 1960s, offer profound spiritual guidance. Amanda Ashram is truly a healing retreat that I highly recommend.

April 10, 2026 at 1:01 pmThis was a magical place. They offer amazing vegetarian food. With a small lake on the property with a path around it, surrounding you with natural beauty. It was a place of tranquility and peace. It’s a short ride away from the hub and loud bustle of NYC and was a place of respite for me. I will definitely be back.

April 10, 2026 at 1:01 pmCame out of the wood work for some great food, autumn splendor, some yoga classes and peace with old and new aquantices. Just so happened to be under the hunters moon.
Hiked around the grounds and witnessed the full variety of wildlife and plants as they exist or cease to exist in their destiny.
Everytime I come back I experience new things and learned even more.

April 10, 2026 at 1:01 pmPerfect getaway from the busy NYC. Only 90 minutes drive or 1 hour 12 minutes with train. They serve vegetarian meals during lunch and dinner. Just donation 10-15 dollars for meal. Don’t miss out the fire ceremony and the dharma talks.
