Good food, friendly staff. Candied bacon was really good, also love the bourbon sauce with the chicken tenders.

The Charred Oak Tavern is a great place to spend an evening — the atmosphere is warm and inviting with that perfect tavern feel, and the service is attentive and genuinely friendly. The food is decent but is the one area that lags behind; it’s satisfying enough but doesn’t quite match the quality of everything else on offer. A stronger menu would make this place hard to beat.

I nearly had a religous experience with the steak and the bourbon I paired with it. Warm and inviting atmosphere, staff was very friendly, clean bathrooms, accommodating large parties (WITH NOTICE, don’t drop it on them last minute just because I said that), great selection of food, PLENTY of parking. The owner was very nice, can’t wait to go back.

Was there last night for Valentines’s with two other couples. We ordered the Valentine’s special Prime Rib with Lobster Tails. The meat was horrible all fat. We left hungry. We told the waitress & she brought us the dessert tray as a comp which was great. She also said she was going to comp our drinks which didn’t happen as they were still on the bill. The waitress was great & the place pretty but, unfortunately, the food was not good. We won’t be back.

First time dining here. My wife and I shared the candied bacon, she ordered the clam chowder and the Cherry coke ribs while I had the 14oz NY Sirloin. We both drank only soda. We both thought the bacon excellent. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare more on the rare side which I would prefer) and was very tender with not a lot of gristle. According to phantom gourmet it came topped with garlic butter but they up charge for it now which I did not order. I liked my truffle fries though the seasoning was getting to be a bit much towards the end. The whiskey mashed potatoes though we both thought were gross and didn’t eat them. My wife enjoyed the clam chowder at first but towards the end she was getting a lot of sand in her clams. She said she liked the ribs but it was nothing special. She did order her baked potato with sour cream but they brought it out with butter. She did eventually get it service was very friendly but a little slow/short staffed.

I am not sure if I would call this place family friendly per say maybe if you came with older kids or a baby early in the night it would be okay but with a toddler it is a little upscale. There is limited street parking in the front but plenty of parking in the back and they have a rear entrance/exit.

Overall the food was good not phenomenal (well maybe the bacon was) but good. I feel most of the menu was overpriced ($4.75 for a coke) and a lot of up charges. The exception being the steak I do feel it is a fair price with the standard sides and the sides were huge. I do wish it came with the butter though. Meal came to $111 with no alcoholic drinks.
