May 6, 2026 at 8:23 pmFable’s biggest draw is definitely the backyard garden dining area — it’s spacious, charming, and a great setting for catching up with friends. That part lived up to the hype. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite match the atmosphere.
I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and specifically asked the waiter whether it was chicken thigh or breast. He told me it was dark meat, but it was very clearly chicken breast, and on the dry side. I’ve had solid chicken breast sandwiches before, but this one missed the mark texture-wise. It was seasoned fairly well, but I strongly prefer fried chicken sandwiches made with thigh, so this was disappointing — especially after asking directly. I didn’t make a point to call it out at the table, but it’s a pet peeve when staff confidently give incorrect info. Beyond preference, accuracy matters, especially for dietary or allergy reasons.
The breakfast potatoes on the side were just okay — slightly undercooked and not crispy enough for my liking. My friends both ordered the double cheeseburger and described it as “fine” but nothing memorable. The patties were on the smaller side and noticeably smaller than the bun, which is always a miss in my book.
Overall, Fable is a decent option if you’re looking for a pleasant, inviting space to hang out and talk, but I wouldn’t come back specifically for the food. Good vibe, average execution.

May 6, 2026 at 8:23 pmFood was on par with very nice covered courtyard dining area. Tasty dishes made with quality, fresh ingredients. Menu was varied enough to cover our group’s dietary restrictions and open air dining made it possible for the immuno-compromised to dine out unmasked. Not an easy combination to find!

May 6, 2026 at 8:23 pmThis is one of those classic can’t go wrong with any choice type of places. Nothing is way better than something else, everything delivers equal quality and quantity. The prices are average for SF and the vibe is very cute. The garden space is nice and has heaters, because you know… SF. Service was friendly and attentive and we overall had a great experience.

May 6, 2026 at 8:23 pmThe staff was super friendly. The space was beautiful with heaters for each table in the outdoor patio, a mini rainforest in the middle of the patio with blossoming flowers and fruits and the sound of a flowing waterfall.
Helpful ReviewThe food was AMAZING! The vegan lasagna is the best thing my taste buds have tasted. It was so good I needed to buy a second one to take home (which I’ve never done). I would eat here everyday if I could. New favorite restaurant!
