    A Life-Changing Experience

I came here for my 200hr YTT and I am forever grateful for my time at the Sivananda Yoga Farm. The simplicity, discipline, and authenticity of the teachings created a truly transformative experience. From organic meals straight from the garden to daily karma yoga, meditation, pranayama, and asana practice—everything was deeply immersive and aligned. By week two, I felt my third eye pulsating and my entire being shifting inward.

The teachers were inspiring, my fellow students were incredible, and the energy of the space was pure and intentional. This training set the bar high. If you’re looking to truly deepen your yoga practice and connect with your inner self, I cannot recommend it enough.

I had such a peaceful, beautiful experience here for a 4 day Ayurvedic Wellness Retreat last month that I gave returned for a Stress management class this weekend. The learning is profound and the spiritual transformation is remarkable. It’s rustic but comfortable and the natural beauty ids serene.

I’ve gone for Labor Day weekend two years in a row now and I visit the NYC center occasionally. Before my first retreat, I’d probably taken a couple of yoga classes but I had no real familiarity. After the weekend, I was hooked. I really enjoy the early morning satsang, yoga, and brunch. It’s a refreshing way to start a new season. The staff is friendly. Attendees are often welcoming as well. The food is great and I just bought the cookbook.

I have come here on 3 yoga vacations; one 8 years ago, one 7 years ago, and one recently. I feel extremely grateful to have such a place to visit in our community. It is run entirely by volunteers that are truly dedicated to servitude, love and peace.

Getting there: you can drive to the ashram, but they will also arrange to pick you up from town nearby. Having a car is nice as there is a 4 hour break in the middle of the day. For summer months, you’ll want to go to the yuba river nearby, it is beautiful clear (cold) water you can swim in to cool down. There are also some cute towns not to far away to visit.

Stay: there are various options to stay from tents to deluxe cabins and everything in between. The deluxe cabins are new, large, with A/C, desks, wifi, fridges, plates, kettle and bathroom/shower with hot water. AC will soon be installed in all cabins to my understanding. I recommend inquiring by calling, be patient with their call back, it is a place run entirely by volunteers and there is no permanent desk staff.

Schedule: this is not a luxury retreat, this is a place to visit for a rather disciplined yoga practice. One that I believe, if properly engaged, can be a very rejuvenating, perhaps transformative experience. There is about 8 hours a day of meditation, kirtan, lectures, karma yoga, pranayama, and asana.

Food: it is entirely vegetarian, largely vegan and gluten free. It is delicious.

I got an ayuverdic treatment this last time, abhyenga, and it was quite lovely.

This was a abusive environment. If you come to this place, there is a high probability that you will be constantly spied on, with no right to privacy. I was screamed at constantly, not because I did anything wrong, but simply because they wanted to. Filled with constant gaslighting, this was a very unprofessional environment.

The Swamis here, along with most of the staff, are very pretentious and arrogant. I’d even say out of touch—or perhaps they were just pretending to be, in order to keep people from wanting things to change around the ashram. They carry a very annoying superiority complex, and anyone who thinks differently from them is made to feel unwelcome.
